LYON
This first book, dedicated to Lyon, the world capital of gastronomy, sprang from a relatively simple observation: when traveling, it isn’t always easy to find good restaurants - restaurants with soul, where the food comes “from the heart”. But we wanted to take the concept even further, by asking the restaurateurs to reveal their suppliers, whether producers or artisans, so that everyone can discover and prepare the best produce of the region, at home or on holiday.
We invite you to visit the "City of Lights" from another angle, from the Halles Paul Bocuse, taking in the silk-weavers’ district or La Croix Rousse. We have some great stories to tell, shared with us by lovers of food, good produce and traditions.
The restaurants
We’ll be meeting Gaby – a French chef with Sino-Vietnamese origins, a graduate of the kitchens of Georges Blanc -, Nicolas, all the way from Alsace, after a slight international detour via London, Bamako and Paris... then Franck and his "working-class grub", who plunges us into the world of the silk weavers and the locals, with banter sharpened like kitchen knives, straight out of an Audiard screenplay! They are among the 11 restaurateurs who kindly accepted to chat to sit down for a tête-à-tête with us.
The suppliers
In Lyon, the life of the artisans begins at dawn, with the fishmonger of Les Halles Paul Bocuse, or across town at one of the best coffee roasters in Lyon, with an intense shot whose aromas take you on exotic journeys… We also meet a brewer to enjoy a "craft and urban" beer, not to mention our wild herbs gatherer who lives by the rhythm of nature, to supply the best tables of Lyon, like all the 15 suppliers selected for this first edition.
As you can see, this beautiful book signed by the collective Vix∞O believes that the protagonists are the best qualified to talk about their work, with empathetic words from two prestigious Michelin-starred chefs putting the icing on the cake!
